Position Overview:
We are seeking an experienced Tax Associate with hands-on US tax preparation experience. This role is responsible for preparing and reviewing tax returns for individuals and small businesses, supporting tax compliance activities, gathering and analyzing client documentation, and ensuring accurate and timely filings. The ideal candidate has prior experience working with US tax firms, CPA firms, or accounting firms and can operate independently within established tax workflows with no supervision.
Key Responsibilities:
Prepare and complete federal and state income tax returns for individuals and small businesses.
Prepare and support tax filings including:(Form 1040,Schedule C, Form 1120S, Form 1065).
Review financial records, supporting schedules, and client documentation for completeness and accuracy.
Gather and organize tax documents from clients and maintain accurate records.
Assist with tax compliance projects and filing deadlines throughout the tax season.
Identify missing information and communicate directly with clients to resolve documentation issues.
Respond to basic client tax-related questions and provide updates on filing status.
Review prior-year returns and supporting workpapers when necessary.
Utilize tax preparation software to prepare, update, and file returns.
Maintain compliance with federal, state, and local tax regulations.
Support internal quality control processes by reviewing completed returns for accuracy.
Collaborate with accountants, tax managers, and firm leadership to ensure timely client deliverables.
Qualifications:
3–5+ years of direct US tax preparation experience.
Experience preparing federal and state tax returns for individuals and small businesses.
Strong knowledge of: (Form 1040,Schedule C, Form 1120S, Form 1065, Multi-state tax filings (preferred if applicable).
Experience working with a US CPA firm, tax firm, or accounting firm.
Strong understanding of US tax regulations and compliance requirements.
Experience using professional tax preparation software.
Excellent attention to detail and accuracy.
Strong written and verbal English communication skills.
Ability to manage multiple returns and deadlines simultaneously.
Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
Nice-to-Have:
Experience with Drake, Lacerte, UltraTax, ProSeries, CCH, or similar tax software.
Experience supporting tax planning and advisory engagements.
Bookkeeping or accounting background.
Experience working directly with US-based clients.
CPA, EA, or equivalent accounting/tax credential.
