About the Company:

 

A US-based accounting and payroll support organization managing payroll operations for a diverse portfolio of small to mid-sized business clients across multiple industries.

 

Position Overview:

 

The Payroll Specialist will manage payroll processing activities across a portfolio of 30–40 clients using ADP (primary platform) and select other payroll systems such as Gusto. The role ensures accurate, timely payroll execution, supports multi-state compliance requirements, and serves as a key point of contact for payroll-related issues and client inquiries. This position requires strong attention to detail, ownership mindset, and the ability to manage multiple client payroll cycles simultaneously.

 

Key Responsibilities:

 

Process payroll for 30–40 client accounts across multiple payroll cycles.
Ensure accurate payroll data entry, validation, and timely payroll execution.
Support payroll tax compliance processes, working with ADP and payroll providers responsible for filings.
Monitor multi-state payroll compliance requirements and flag potential issues.
Troubleshoot payroll discrepancies and resolve client payroll issues efficiently.
Coordinate with internal teams, client accountants, controllers, and external payroll platforms.
Respond to payroll, benefits, and paystub inquiries in a timely and professional manner.
Maintain accurate records and ensure adherence to payroll deadlines.

 

Qualifications:

 

2–4 years of payroll experience (US payroll required).
Strong experience with ADP (required).
Familiarity with Gusto or similar payroll systems is a plus.
Solid understanding of multi-state payroll compliance and state tax regulations.
Strong English communication skills (written and verbal).
Proven ability to manage multiple client payrolls simultaneously.
High attention to detail and strong organizational skills.
Experience in payroll service providers or multi-client environments preferred.

 

Nice-to-Haves:

 

Experience in payroll processing for a high-volume client portfolio.
Exposure to accounting or finance operations beyond payroll.
Familiarity with payroll troubleshooting across multiple platforms.
Experience working in remote, distributed teams.
