Peacebuilding Communications Associate (Volunteer)

• Providing support in maintaining GNWP’s online branding through social media, website upkeep and podcast production.

• Representing GNWP in meetings and other events at the UN or those organized by the UN, Member States, civil society, and academic institutions.

• Providing support in the promotion of various programs and projects related to the advocacy for the effective implementation of UNSCR 1325, 1820, 2250 and the supporting resolutions on Women and Peace and Security (WPS) and Youth, Peace, and Security (YPS)

• Actively engaging on social media platforms where GNWP is active (Twitter; Facebook; Instagram) showcasing both in country-level programmatic work and global events relevant to GNWP and its partners.

• Assisting in organizing events and other activities or providing support remotely in GNWP’s program implementation in other countries.

 

Content Producer/ Journalist

·       Writing articles on a range of topics but mostly health related content, climate change, peace building, women and gender and human rights issues.

·       Sub-edit and proof-reading news articles from approved sources across the African continent.

·       Traveling for conferences, taking quality photographs, taking videos, and conducting interviews to be translated to writing articles.

·       Promoting AllAfrica.com content on all social media platforms including Twitter, Facebook, LinkedIn, and YouTube.

Special projects
·       (January 2019 – on going) I lead AllAfrica’s Peacebuilding Project where I write articles for a sponsored peacebuilding project examining issues leading to conflict and synergies between climate change and peace and security in collaboration with African media partners and African researchers and research organizations.

·       (March 2019 – 1 week) – I attended and reported on the 2nd World Health Organisation (WHO)’s Africa Health Forum under the theme ‘Achieving Universal Health Coverage and Health Security: The Africa We Want to See. The forum was held in Praia, Cape Verde.

·       (November 2019 – 1 week) – I attended and reported on Populations Service International (PSI)’s review of the WHO Consolidated Guideline on Self-Care Interventions for Health. We conducted site visits in Nairobi, Kenya and interviewed locals on the self-care kits recommended by the WHO.

·       (November 2022 – 1 week) – I successfully completed the workshop on the effective use of data in public health journalism organised and facilitated by Vital Strategies and Bloomberg Philanthropies.
