About the Company:
Sagan represents a commercial print and sign company in Santa Rosa, CA, producing work on both digital and offset litho presses.
Position Overview:
We are looking for an experienced Prepress Operator who can take customer-supplied files and make every job print-ready: accurate, efficient to run, and built right the first time, including variable data projects. If you catch the missing bleed before it reaches the press, think in impositions, and take pride in files that run clean, you will thrive here.
What You’ll Tackle:
File Preparation & Preflight
Preflight, correct, and prepare customer-supplied files for digital and offset litho printing.
Catch and resolve file issues early, and communicate corrections clearly with CSRs and customers.
Create print-ready PDFs, verifying bleeds, trim, resolution, fonts, overprints, and trapping.
Proofing & Approvals
Generate and manage digital proofs.
Route proofs for customer and internal approval, and track them to sign-off.
Imposition & Layout
Build impositions and layouts optimized for press format, stock, and finishing requirements.
Color Management
Verify color builds, apply ICC profiles, and keep color consistent across devices.
Variable Data (VDP)
Build and process variable data jobs, including data merges and VDP form setup.
Workflow & File Management
Maintain organized job files, templates, and prepress workflow standards.
What You Bring:
5+ years of prepress experience in a commercial print environment (digital and offset).
Expert proficiency in Adobe Creative Cloud (InDesign, Illustrator, Photoshop, Acrobat).
Experience with variable data software such as FusionPro or comparable VDP tools.
Strong working knowledge of imposition, color management, and PDF print standards.
Sharp attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple deadlines in a fast-paced workflow.
Strong communication skills and a team-oriented, problem-solving mindset.
Nice-to-Haves:
Experience with a prepress workflow platform such as Fuji XMF, Kodak Prinergy, or a comparable application.
