Dear Future Strategist,

We’re hiring because we need your expertise to help us accomplish our mission: elevate ecommerce teams and drive $500M in email & SMS revenue for our clients.

But let’s be clear about what we mean by “strategist.”

This Role IS For You If:

You know why “30% revenue from email” is a meaningless benchmark without context
You understand that email performance starts with the offer/angle/positioning, not the creative
You get frustrated when you see brands sending daily blasts to their entire list or running birthday flows that generate $100/month
You can look at cohort data in Triple Whale or Lifetimely and identify whether declining flow revenue is a deliverability problem, an offer problem, or a timing problem
You know that 80% of welcome series conversions happen in the first 24 hours (and you build your flows accordingly)

This Role Is NOT For You If:

You think a 40% open rate is success (while conversion rates tank)
You want to build 20 automations when 6 excellent ones would perform better
You believe subject line testing is more important than offer testing
You’re satisfied being a Klaviyo button-pusher who waits for client direction

What You’ll Actually Do:

Own Retention Strategy for 2-6 ecommerce brands ($5M-50M+ annual revenue)

You’ll develop and execute email & SMS strategies that drive measurable revenue growth while maintaining healthy list engagement. You’re not just launching campaigns—you’re architecting retention systems.

Strategy & Content

Proactively own the strategic direction for your managed brands
Work with our copywriters, designers, and project managers to execute your strategy
Push back (diplomatically but firmly) when clients suggest tactics that won’t work, using data to offer better alternatives
Performance & Analytics

Own the performance of email & SMS channels
Analyze metrics that matter: placed order rate, repurchase timing, attributed revenue (with all its nuances)
Build hypotheses and run experiments
Report regularly to clients and our CEO on performance, opportunities, and test results
Client Communication

Integrate seamlessly into client marketing teams
Ensure they understand how email & SMS contribute to broader business goals
Propose experiments and content plans proactively (don’t wait to be told what to do)

The Technical Stuff You Should Know:

Required:

2+ years hands-on Email & SMS Marketing for ecommerce brands
2+ years deep Klaviyo experience (segments, flows, advanced conditionals)
You’ve personally managed accounts generating $500K+ in email/SMS revenue
Fluent in analytics tools (TripleWhale, Lifetimely, or similar)
Strong understanding of ecommerce metrics: LTV, repurchase rate, CAC, contribution margin
Excellent written and spoken English

Nice to Have:

Experience with Recharge, Yotpo, Attentive, Postscript, Rebuy
Other digital marketing experience (ads, CRO, retention programs)

The Practical Details:

Job Type: Contract position

Our ideal-case scenario is to start part-time and grow into full-time as we both get familiar (and hopefully fall in love) with each other. We are also willing to consider starting full-time right away for a great-great fit.

Start: 20 hrs/week
Grow to: 30-40 hrs/week within 3-6 months
Open to starting full-time for an exceptional fit
Location: Remote. Must be available 9am-1pm PST (sorry, Asia/Oceania won’t work with this requirement)

Work Schedule: Working hours must overlap with 9am-1pm PST.
