ABOUT THE ROLE

We are looking for a driven SEO Specialist to join our team and take ownership of search strategy across a growing portfolio of clients. This role is hands-on from day one — you will execute on-site and technical SEO, create and edit content, manage client projects, and help build the systems that keep our team running smoothly. As we scale to 30–50 clients, you will grow into a team leadership position and play a key role in building and scaling our SEO department.

This is not a task-only role. We are looking for someone who can think strategically, take initiative, and own outcomes.
You will be directly responsible for improving rankings, traffic growth, lead volume, and overall SEO performance across your assigned accounts. This role requires managing multiple active client campaigns at once in a fast-paced agency environment.

High performers can expect to move into a team leadership position within 6–12 months as client volume increases.
WHAT YOU WILL DO

SEO Execution

•    Plan and implement on-site SEO strategies including keyword research, meta optimization, internal linking, and content structure

•    Conduct technical SEO audits and resolve issues related to site speed, crawlability, indexation, structured data, and Core Web Vitals

•    Write, edit, and optimize content that ranks and converts

•    Develop and maintain website plans that align with client goals and SEO best practices

Website & Design Collaboration

•    Lead the website design team by providing direction on site architecture, UX, and SEO-friendly page structures

•    Work directly in WordPress to build, edit, and optimize pages as needed

Project & Process Management

•    Manage multiple client projects simultaneously, keeping timelines, deliverables, and communications on track

•    Create and refine SOPs to standardize workflows and improve team efficiency

•    Maintain clear reporting and documentation for client accounts

Team Leadership (Growth Path)

•    Grow into an SEO team lead role as the client roster scales to 30–50 accounts

•    Mentor and manage SEO team members, delegate tasks, and oversee quality of deliverables

•    Contribute to hiring, onboarding, and training as the team expands

WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR

•    3+ years of hands-on SEO experience, preferably in an agency or multi-client environment

•    Strong working knowledge of technical SEO, on-page optimization, and content strategy

•    Proficiency in WordPress — comfortable building and editing pages without developer support

•    Experience with SEO tools such as Ahrefs, SEMrush, Google Search Console, and Screaming Frog

•    Proven ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines without dropping the ball

•    Experience writing or editing SEO content with a strong eye for quality and clarity

•    Ability to create clear SOPs and process documentation

•    Strong communicator who can work independently in a remote environment

•    Leadership experience or a clear desire to step into a management role

NICE TO HAVE

•    Experience leading or mentoring an SEO team

•    Familiarity with website design principles and working alongside designers

•    Background in local SEO or e-commerce SEO

•    Google Analytics 4 and Google Tag Manager experience

WORK REQUIREMENTS

This is a fully remote position. You must be available to work standard Chicago business hours (CT) to collaborate with our team and clients in real time.
