Remote Legal Staff
About the job
Senior Account Manager
About the Role
RemoteLegalStaff connects law firms and legal departments with highly qualified remote legal professionals. We are growing fast and looking for a Senior Account Manager who thrives in a client-facing environment, takes genuine ownership of the relationships they manage, and is ready to lead and develop a small team of Account Managers.
In this role, you will manage your own book of client accounts while also serving as a team lead for a group of Account Managers. You will be the senior point of contact for your own clients, the escalation point for your team’s clients, and the person responsible for raising the standard of how every client on your team experiences RemoteLegalStaff. You will work closely with our recruiting team internally and represent RemoteLegalStaff externally with the kind of professionalism our clients expect from a senior partner.
This is a high-ownership role where the quality of your work, and the quality of your team’s work, directly shapes how clients experience RemoteLegalStaff. We have high expectations for how our clients are treated and we need someone who holds themselves and their team to that standard.
What You’ll Do
Client management
Serve as the primary point of contact for a portfolio of senior or higher-complexity client accounts, managing the relationship from onboarding through ongoing engagement
Run client-facing calls including kickoffs, candidate reviews, interviews, and check-ins with the polish and judgment expected of a senior team member
Set clear expectations with clients, surface issues early, and proactively resolve problems before they escalate
Build strong long-term relationships that drive retention and client satisfaction
Team leadership
Lead a team of Account Managers, owning their day-to-day performance, development, and quality of client work
Run regular 1-on-1s, coaching sessions, and call reviews with your direct reports
Serve as the escalation point when a client situation on your team needs a more senior voice, stepping in directly when needed
Review your team’s client communication and account hygiene, raising the standard and giving direct feedback
Help onboard and ramp new Account Managers as the team grows
Coordinate with the recruiting team and other internal functions on behalf of your team, removing friction so your AMs can focus on their clients
Spot patterns across accounts (recurring issues, training gaps, process breakdowns) and bring them forward so we can fix them at the system level
What We’re Looking For
Team lead or management experience required. You have led a team of at least 2 to 3 client-facing people before, or have served as a senior IC who other team members consistently came to for coaching and escalation support. This is non-negotiable.
3+ years in a client-facing role: account management, client success, staffing, or similar
Excellent spoken and written English. You will be representing RemoteLegalStaff directly with U.S.-based legal clients and coaching others to do the same. Communication quality is non-negotiable.
Available to work U.S. business hours with a start time between 6:00 AM and 8:00 AM PST
Highly organized with exceptional attention to detail across a wider surface area than your own accounts. You can hold the standard for your own book and your team’s book at the same time
Strong communicator who can run a professional call, manage expectations, and write clearly and concisely, and who can teach others to do the same
Good judgment on fit, quality, and when to escalate. You are not just moving things through a pipeline, you are making real decisions and helping your team make better ones
Comfortable giving direct feedback. You can tell an Account Manager their email was not good enough and explain exactly why, without making it personal
Confident and poised when speaking with attorneys and legal professionals. Our clients are lawyers and you need to hold your own in those conversations, including when stepping in on a situation your team has escalated
Composed under pressure. Client situations move fast and your team will look to you to stay steady when they do
Self-starter who manages their own workload and their team’s priorities without needing heavy oversight
Experience in legal, staffing, or professional services is a plus but not required
What Success Looks Like
In your first 90 days, you will have taken full ownership of your own book of client accounts and your team. You will know your clients, know each of your direct reports, and have a clear read on where each AM is strong and where they need development. Your team’s clients will feel a noticeable lift in the quality of how they are managed, and your AMs will know what great looks like because you have shown them. By the end of 90 days, you will be the person leadership goes to for a clear, accurate picture of how your accounts and your team are actually doing.
