The Role

You’ll be responsible for:

Content planning aligned to SEO objectives

Translate the agreed SEO strategy into 90-day content plans per site with prioritised topic clusters and formats (service/product pages, blogs, landing pages).
Create search-led content briefs (primary/secondary keywords, outline/H-structure, internal links, schema notes, Surfer SEO targets) and own quality assurance on all drafts before they go live.
Write or co-write core assets where needed; refresh legacy content to match intent and on-page best practice.

On-page execution & site hygiene

Implement on-page improvements (titles/meta, H1–H3, internal links, images/alt, anchor strategy, basic speed fixes) and routinely update service/product pages.
Loop in the freelance technical SEO for targeted fixes; on-page hygiene checks are periodic, not your main time sink.

Stakeholder management

Partner with the strategist and work hand-in-glove with the AM to keep plans realistic and moving.
Brief, guide and QA content from client-side teams; give clear, kind feedback so they deliver the right work to spec and on time.
Be ready to join client calls when needed and write polite, concise client emails and clear Google-Doc mark-ups.

Monitoring & insight (interpret, don’t build)

Interpret performance using SE Ranking (primary tracker run by the AM) plus Google Search Console and SEMrush/Ahrefs for diagnostics. Identify trends, diagnose page/topic issues, and recommend next actions. You do not create or own reporting.

Lead-generation alignment

Ensure content ladders to each site’s north-star conversion (e.g., brochure requests, calculator completions). Propose practical ways to turn traffic into enquiries (CTAs, internal links to high-intent pages, supporting copy on key pages).

The Person

Strong on-page SEO craft: turn strategy into briefs, shape outlines, QA drafts, and perform hands-on page updates that rank.
Confident with client-side contributors — excellent people skills, clear written feedback, steady follow-through.
Tools: SE Ranking (interpretation), Google Search Console, SEMrush (audits); Ahrefs optional; Surfer SEO for content scoring.
WordPress publishing fluency (edits, redirects, media, internal links).
Able to connect SEO work to lead-gen outcomes for B2B accounts; B2C experience equally fine.

Salary and Benefits

Salary Range: R35,000 – R38,000 per month for 4 days per week

Through Marketing Pros, the successful candidate will have access to a shared workspace in Cape Town, a Slack group with other South Africa-based marketing professionals, and regular social and training events.
